TRIBAL GOVERNMENT

As a federally recognized Indian Tribe established by executive order in 1988 by the United States Government, the Picayune Rancheria of the Chukchansi Indians exercises the inherent sovereign right to self-government.

The Picayune Rancheria of the Chukchansi Indians Tribal Government is organized democratically and operates in accordance with the customs and traditions of the Chukchansi people. The Chukchansi Tribal Government comprises the Tribal Council, and various Boards, Commissions, Corporations, and Committees. The Tribal Government’s primary decision-making authority is the Tribal Council, comprised of recognized tribal members 18-years of age and older.
